Privacy policy
Last updated 30 September 2026
This policy explains what personal data Matter (formerly Siren) collects through this website, why, and the rights you have over it under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
Matter, of 58 Wardour Street, London, W1D 4JQ, is the controller of your personal data. For anything to do with your data, email info@mattersoho.co.uk.
What we collect
- When you visit: our hosting provider records technical details every website receives — your IP address, browser and the pages requested — to deliver the site and keep it secure.
- If you accept analytics cookies: random visitor and visit IDs, the pages you view, how far you scroll, what you click, the campaign link that brought you here, and your browser, device and approximate location (worked out from your IP address). See our cookie policy.
- When you email us: your name, email address and whatever you choose to tell us.
How we use it, and why we’re allowed to
- To run the site and keep it secure. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in providing a working, safe website (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)).
- To understand how people find and use this site, so we can improve it. Our lawful basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), given through the cookie banner.
- To reply when you get in touch. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering the people who contact us (Article 6(1)(f)).
We don’t sell your data, and we don’t use it for automated decisions about you.
Who we share it with
We use a few trusted providers who handle data only on our instructions:
- Vercel Inc. hosts this website and our visitor analytics tool.
- Google Analytics (Google LLC) measures visits, if you accept analytics cookies.
- Vimeo, Instagram (Meta) and Mapbox deliver the videos, Instagram posts and map on the site, and so receive your IP address when your browser loads them.
These providers may process data in the United States. Where they do, the transfer is protected by the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or by the UK’s International Data Transfer Addendum to the standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months, then deleted.
- Emails you send us are kept for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- have it corrected if it’s wrong, or deleted
- restrict or object to how we use it
- receive it in a portable format
- withdraw your consent at any time, by changing your cookie settings
To use any of these rights, email info@mattersoho.co.uk. We’ll reply within one month.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes
If we change how we use your data we’ll update this page.
